8079 Aluminum Foil is an Al-Fe-Si series alloy foil (8000 series) developed for thin-gauge flexible packaging that demands more than pure aluminum foil can deliver. Iron (0.70–1.30%) and silicon (0.05–0.30%) are its principal alloying elements: during casting, rolling and annealing they form finely dispersed iron-bearing intermetallic phases that raise strength and puncture resistance, while the aluminum matrix keeps ductility high enough for severe deep drawing at gauges down to 0.006 mm.
Compared with 1xxx series pure aluminum foils (1235, 1100), 8079 offers a clearly higher strength level and a lower pinhole rate, combined with excellent elongation — the property balance that makes it the substrate of choice for lithium battery pouch aluminum-plastic film, pharmaceutical cold-formed and blister packaging, and retort / aseptic food packaging.
As a non-heat-treatable alloy, 8079 foil properties are controlled through cold rolling and annealing. We supply it mainly in annealed (O) temper for maximum elongation, with work-hardened tempers (H14, H16, H18, H19, H22, H24, H26) available for lidding and container applications. Thickness ranges from 0.006 mm to 0.2 mm, width up to 1700 mm, in jumbo rolls or precision-slit coils.
Strength + elongation balance — Fe/Si alloying raises strength and puncture resistance over pure aluminum foil while retaining the elongation needed for deep drawing and pouch forming without cracking.
Ultra-low pinhole rate — Tight rolling and clean-melt control keep pinhole counts low at micro gauges, preserving barrier integrity in pharma and battery films.
High barrier performance — Effective against moisture, oxygen, light and flavor loss; supports long shelf life for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging.
Food & pharma compatible — Non-toxic, odorless surface chemistry suitable for food-contact and medicinal packaging applications under applicable standards.
Excellent printability & lamination — Bright, uniform mill finish with good wettability (Grade A water-wettability target), readily bonded, printed, glued and coated in downstream lamination lines.
Consistent rolling quality — Flat profile, uniform thickness, tight winding and accurate slit width for trouble-free conversion.

Manufactured and tested to GB/T 3198-2020 (Aluminium and aluminium alloy foils).
Pharmaceutical-grade foil can be supplied against applicable medicinal-foil requirements (e.g. YBB requirements for medicinal aluminium foil in China) per order specification.
Compliance with international equivalents (e.g. ASTM B479, EN 546) can be arranged per order; confirmation of applicable standards at inquiry is recommended.
Each coil is supplied with a mill test certificate; independent third-party inspection (SGS/BV or nominated agency) is available on request.
Process control covers melt cleanliness, continuous casting, cold and foil rolling and slitting, with inline thickness gauging, pinhole detection, surface wettability and mechanical testing to keep micro-gauge quality consistent.
Lithium battery pouch (soft-pack) film — Aluminum layer of the aluminum-plastic film for pouch cells; O-temper foil with high elongation survives the deep-drawing and crease-forming of the encapsulation process while providing an effective barrier against moisture and electrolyte attack.
Pharmaceutical packaging — Cold-formed (cold-stamped) solid-dosage foil (OPA/Al/PVC structures), tropical blister foil and PTP lidding foil, where low pinholes and reliable seal strength protect moisture- and light-sensitive drugs.
Food flexible packaging — Retort pouches, aseptic liquid packaging, high-fat food bags, food trays, beverage caps and seals; foil layers supply the oxygen, moisture and light barrier that extends shelf life.
Cosmetic & daily packaging — Barrier and decorative foil for creams, masks and premium consumer goods requiring a clean, printable surface.
Industrial barrier & insulation — Transformer insulation composite, cable shielding and building/roof insulation facings where foil is laminated or coated for barrier and reflectivity.
