8011 aluminum foil is an Al-Fe-Si alloy foil of the 8xxx series. Instead of relying on high aluminum purity, it uses controlled iron (Fe 0.60–1.00%) and silicon (Si 0.50–0.90%) as its main strengthening elements. This metallurgical design produces a foil with:
Higher tensile strength than 1xxx pure-aluminum foils (e.g. 1235), allowing thinner gauges to run reliably on high-speed packaging lines;
Lower pinhole rates, a decisive advantage in pharmaceutical and hygiene-critical packaging;
Good deep-drawing and dead-fold behavior for container forming and secure wrapping;
Cost efficiency, as Fe–Si strengthening avoids expensive high-purity base metal.

Pharmaceutical packaging – PTP blister lidding foil and alu–alu cold-form foil; pinhole-controlled surface protects drug stability. Foil for pharmaceutical packaging is additionally documented against applicable pharma-grade requirements on request.
Food packaging – Food container foil, meal-tray and takeaway dish stock, household foil jumbo rolls, flexible packaging barrier layer (laminated with film/paper).
Bottle caps & closures – 8011 stock for cap liner foil, pilfer-proof and roll-on closures requiring strength plus clean forming.
Industrial – Cable wrapping foil, thermal insulation facing, and other barrier applications where 1xxx foil lacks sufficient strength.
Supplied to GB/T 3198-2020 (铝及铝合金箔 / Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy foil).
Food contact: food-grade 8011 foil can be documented for relevant food-contact compliance (e.g. GB 4806.9 for China, FDA or EU food-contact frameworks) — confirm scope with our sales team for your destination market.
Pinhole count, mechanical properties and thickness tolerance are controlled per order and can be verified via mill test certificates.
Q1: 8011 or 1235 aluminum foil — which should I choose? Choose 1235 (≥99.35% Al) when you need maximum softness, elongation and deep-drawing ductility for flexible packaging, and the application is not strength-critical. Choose 8011 when you need higher mechanical strength, fewer pinholes in very thin gauges, or stiffer dead-fold — typical for pharmaceutical blister foil, container foil and cap liner stock. In many packaging categories 8011 is the economical upgrade path from 1235.
Q2: Is 8011 aluminum foil food safe? Yes — 8011 is one of the most widely used alloys for food-contact foil worldwide, and as a bare aluminum foil it relies on the alloy's stable oxide layer rather than coatings. Food-contact grades can be supplied with compliance documentation (e.g. GB 4806.9, FDA, EU 1935/2004 frameworks). Confirm the target regulation with our sales team before ordering.
