Product Description

Alloy 20 (UNS N08020) is a high-performance nickel-iron-chromium-based austenitic alloy, specifically engineered for superior corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments. Its unique chemical composition is optimized by adding molybdenum, copper, and niobium, endowing the alloy with excellent resistance to acidic media and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, making it a reliable choice for critical applications across multiple industries.

1. Chemical Composition

Main chemical composition (mass fraction, %): Nickel (Ni): 32.0-38.0, Chromium (Cr): 19.0-21.0, Molybdenum (Mo): 2.0-3.0, Copper (Cu): 3.0-4.0, Niobium (Nb): ≤1.0 (usually added at 8 times the carbon content), Carbon (C): ≤0.07, Sulfur (S): ≤0.035, Phosphorus (P): ≤0.045, Iron (Fe): Balance.

2. Physical Properties

Density: 8.08g/cm³; Melting point: 1370-1425℃; Thermal conductivity: 12.85W/m·K (at 100℃); Coefficient of linear expansion: 12.35×10⁻⁶/℃ (20-100℃).

3. Core Features & Advantages

Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Excellent performance in sulfuric acid (up to 80% boiling), phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and chloride-containing environments. The synergistic effect of molybdenum and copper enhances pitting resistance, with a critical pitting temperature above 60℃. It also performs well in alkaline solutions such as sodium hydroxide.

4. Main Application Fields

Good Processability: Suitable for hot working (1100-900℃), cold working, and various welding methods (TIG welding, MIG welding, submerged arc welding). Post-weld annealing can minimize residual stress and ensure consistent performance.
Stable Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength ≥550MPa in the solution-annealed state, with high ductility (elongation ≥30%), ensuring structural integrity under various working conditions. It maintains excellent performance even in high-temperature environments (up to 315℃).
Compliance with International Standards: Complies with international standards such as ASTM/ASME (e.g., B463, B464, B473) and has equivalent grades worldwide, including 2.4660 (German Standard), NS143/NS1403 (Chinese Standard), and NAS 335X (Japanese Standard).
